As you will see from the club's history, Rogerstone RFC has enjoyed many successes since its formation in 1973 when it was originally named as Bassaleg High School Old Boys.
Throughout those years the club enjoyed a deserved reputation as a friendly and welcoming club who, as a Chairman of another club once put it, “Would give you a good run for your money”.
Off the pitch the club enjoyed a strong supportive membership, a lively social scene and toured annually.
We are proud to be able to re-establish ourselves in the community, but we could not have achieved this without the help of a dedicated number of individuals who worked and continue to work for the benefit of the club.
The same recognition must also go to our sponsors, as without their kind support and generosity we would not be able to have achieved our ambitions.
Rogerstone RFC has always valued its place in the community.
We were always conscious of the support the community gave us in the past and each year we held a fundraising evening so that we could give something back to the community. In latter years organisations such as The Special Baby Care unit of the Royal Gwent Hospital and St Anne's Hospice have been the beneficiaries of these events and we hope that we will be able to continue this tradition as the club grows.
Community remains at the heart of Rogerstone RFC.
With so many new housing developments changing the geography and population of Rogerstone it would be very easy to think that the spirit of community identity is being diluted, but not so with Rogerstone RFC.
We are a club representing the community of Rogerstone, based in the community and sourcing players from within the community. We will never pay players as we feel that representing the club and Rogerstone is its own reward.
It is our intention to take the club forward every season and a warm welcome will be extended to any new players who would like to join us.
